Gearhouse Auto started because owning a car in Austin is expensive and sitting still is expensive too.
How it actually went.
It started in a garage with one car and a question: could the car pay for itself? We listed it on Turo, watched the bookings come in, and found out the answer was yes. Then we found out the rest of it. The cleaning at 11pm. The guest who cannot find the key box. The tire that goes soft the morning of a booking.
So we built the operation instead of resenting it. Handoff routines, a detailing standard, a phone line somebody answers. Other owners started asking who ran their car, and that turned into this. Austin owned, Austin operated, still run by the people who started it.
